Tracking Safe Motherhood Funds in Uganda

It is estimated that 16 women die every day of pregnancy-related causes in Uganda. The Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE) believes that part of the reason is poor resource allocation in Uganda's public health programs. In this study FOWODE will track the flow of resources intended for Government funded safe motherhood programs to identify how efficiently resources are used, if there is any leakage, and develop recommendations to improve how funds are used and ensure equal access to these services.

Upcoming PETS Resource

As part of its new grant window on public expenditure tracking and absenteeism studies, TAP is producing a guide based on lessons learned, challenges faced, and strategies developed by former grantees. Following a six-step process from Developing a Topic to Undertaking Evidence-Based Advocacy, we will carefully outline the activities that PETS can involve and stories from practitioners who have been involved in "Learning by Doing" PETS exercises in the past. Expected Summer 2009.
