TAP Hosts Peer Learning Workshop in Dar es Salaam

The Transparency and Accountability Program team recently returned from Dar es Salaam, where we hosted a peer learning workshop as the launch event for our newest grant round.  This grant round is supporting TAP’s five longer term grantees as well as  ten newly selected organizations to design and implement a Citizen Report Card (CRC), a tool for systematically gathering user feedback on experiences with public services and advocating for improvements.

The workshop began with long term grantees presenting and receiving feedback on the PETS and QSDS studies that they have been working on over the past year.

The bulk of the workshop was led by Dr. Sita Sekhar of India’s Public Affairs Foundation (PAF), who provided extensive and practical training on how to carry out a successful CRC, giving participants guidance and hands on experience on each step of the CRC process.  PAF is a branch of the Public Affairs Center, which pioneered the use of CRCs.

The workshop closed with communications and advocacy training led by Megan Lloyd-Laney and Farai Samhungu of CommsConsult, an international organization that makes communication work for development
