TAP's mission is to increase the capacity of civil society organizations to reduce corruption and better hold government accountable for efficiency in social sector public spending

Selections for Newest Grant Round

The Transparency and Accountability Program (TAP) is excited to announce selection of its newest grantees in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda. The selected organizations are:

  • Action Group for Health, Human Rights and HIVAIDS (AGHA), Uganda
  • Alliance for Reproductive Health Rights (ARHR), Ghana
  • Association des Femmes Africaines Face au Sida (AFAFSIBF), Burkina Faso
  • Choice Ghana, Ghana
  • Family Care International-Kenya, Kenya
  • Pathfinder International, Tanzania
  • Réseau Jeunesse, Population et Développement du Sénégal (RESOPOPDEV), Senegal
  • The Future In Our Minds (FIOM Rwanda), Rwanda
  • Uganda Network of AIDS Service Organisations, Uganda
  • WaterAid in Uganda, Uganda

As part of the Transparency and Accountability Program, these organizations will design and implement a Citizen Report Card (CRC) project that focuses on improving how money is being spent and how services are being delivered in the health, education, and water sectors at the national, sub-national, and/or local level(s) in their countries. Citizens Report Cards are participatory surveys that provide systematic feedback to public agencies about user perceptions on the quality, adequacy and efficiency of public services.  CRCs are used to develop recommendations to address the issues identified andas an instrument to exact public accountability and improve service delivery through the advocacy that accompanies the process.

The overall goal of each supported project will be to improve the effectiveness of public spending and service delivery in a health, education, or water sub-sector or program so that government resources are reaching and improving the lives of those who need them most.

Throughout the 12 month program, these organizations will receive financial and technical support, including technical resources, training, and peer learning opportunities. The first workshop will take place February 2nd– 8th, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

TAP is currently supporting five Long-Term grantees, selected last year, who will be implementing CRCs on the same timeline, and participating in the same peer learning activities as these newly selected organizations.
