Transparency and Accountability Program

TAP's mission is to increase the capacity of civil society organizations to reduce corruption and better hold government accountable for efficiency in social sector public spending

Launch of New Phase of TAP

The Transparency and Accountability Program (TAP) is excited to announce the launch of its newest phase and the selection of its 5 long-term grantees in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Rwanda and Uganda. The selected organizations are:

  • The Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE), Uganda
  • The Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana)
  • Laboratoire Citoyennetés, Burkina Faso
  • Transparency Rwanda
  • Uganda National Health Consumers' Organisation (UNHCO)/ Coalition for Health Promotion and Social Development (HEPS), Uganda

As part of the Transparency and Accountability Program, these organizations will design and implement a series of related research and advocacy projects that focus on improving how money is being spent and how services are being delivered in the health and education sectors at the national, sub-national, and/or local level in their countries. The goal of each supported project is to improve the effectiveness of public spending and service delivery in a health or education sub-sector or program so that government resources are reaching and improving the lives of those who need them most.

Throughout the 3-year program, these organizations will receive financial and technical support, including technical resources, training, and peer learning opportunities. The first workshop will take place May 2nd– 6th, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This phase of TAP will also support “Open Window Grantees” to work on a single research and advocacy project for 12 months during the 3-year program. The first request for proposals will be announced around September 2011.
