TAP Hosts Peer Learning Workshop in Dar es Salaam

The Transparency and Accountability Program team recently returned from Dar es Salaam, where we hosted a peer learning workshop as the launch event for our newest grant round.  This grant round is supporting TAP’s five longer term grantees as well as  ten newly selected organizations to design and implement a Citizen Report Card (CRC), a tool for systematically gathering user feedback on experiences with public services and advocating for improvements.

First Global Assembly for Budget Transparency, Accountability and Participation

The First Global Assembly for Budget Transparency, Accountability and Participation took place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on November 18-19th. This event brought together nearly 100 civil society groups from 56 countries and 12 international organizations working on public finance and budget accountability issues to launch a global effort to make public budgets transparent, participatory, and accountable.

UPDATE - Revised deadline for TAP New Grant Round

TAP is pleased to announce the opening of our latest request for proposals.  In the newest phase of our Grants Program, TAP will sponsor up to ten (10) organizations to design and implement a citizen report card (CRC) project and related advocacy that focuses on improving how money is being spent and how services are being delivered in the health, water, and education sectors at the national, sub-national, and/or local level in their countries.   Application to the Grants Program is open to any non-government organization from target countries in sub-Saharan African (Bur

TAP Hosts Launch Workshop in Accra, Ghana

After a successful launch workshop in May 2011 in Johannesburg for the new phase of the TAP program, R4D held a follow-up workshop in Accra this week for one of its new grantees. Led by R4D Program Officer, Caroline Poirrier, representatives from Laboratoire Citoyennetés (LC) in Burkina Faso attended to develop objectives for their three-year social accountability work plan, undergo training for their first research activity (quantitative service delivery surveys for the education sector), and engage in peer learning with fellow grantees (including representatives from Transparency Rwanda and the Center for Democratic Development in Ghana).

TAP Launch Workshop in Johannesburg

TAP will be hosting the first launch workshop for its newest grant round in Johannesburg, South Africa, from May 2nd to 6th. In Johannesburg, representatives from the five supported organizations will gather to receive technical training on public expenditure tracking and quantitative service delivery surveys, other social accountability tools, and advocacy strategies fromexperts in the field. The will also network with fellow grantees and further develop their project as well as their long term program and organizational goals.

Launch of New Phase of TAP

The Transparency and Accountability Program (TAP) is excited to announce the launch of its newest phase and the selection of its 5 long-term grantees in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Rwanda and Uganda. The selected organizations are:

R4D Leads Annual Workshop for Strengthening Institutions Project

The Governance Program at R4D will lead the technical sessions of the Annual Workshop for think tank partners of the Strengthening Institutions to Improve Public Expenditure Accountability (“Strengthening Institutions”) project in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 28 through March 2, 2011.

TAP Grant Round Closed

The TAP Long Term Grantee window is now closed.  The TAP team is now reviewing the submitted Expressions of Interest and will notify organizations selected to submit full proposals by December 22.
